With a keen interest in performing a magnitude of complex orthopedic, laparoscopy, video endoscopy and soft tissue surgeries, Dr. Brian D. Schmidt is one of our skilled and most sought veterinarians.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois in 1980, Dr. Brian D. Schmidt completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in 1982, joining the practice the same year. While in school, he was able to work as a research associate to one of the school's small animal surgeons -- allowing him to travel to other hospitals in the state as well as Vancouver, British Columbia assisting and learning numerous and complex surgical procedures.
A member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medicine Association, Dr. Schmidt is also a member of the AVMA and AAHA and is constantly continuing his education to maintain the high level of knowledge about the many problems and conditions that can be dealt with surgically.
Dr. Kathryne Hall is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Pine Bluff Animal Hospital in Morris, IL. She graduated from the University of Illinois with her Bachelor of Science in Biology, and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Dr. Hall is also certified in veterinary spinal manipulation therapy. Her areas of professional interest include dentistry, chiropractic care, feline care, and soft tissue surgery. Inspired by her passion for animals and science, Dr. Hall says the best part of being a veterinarian is helping sick animals and providing exceptional veterinary care.
Dr. Hall currently lives in Mokena, IL with her three dogs and one cat. Her dog, Etta is a Mexican hairless dog and has her own Instagram account! In her spare time, she enjoys fostering cats and kittens, reading, traveling, cooking, and gardening.
Dr. Chelsea Ballinger graduated from Lake Land College in 2010, Southern Illinois University of Carbondale in 2012, and went onto earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois in 2016. Her clinical training included attending multiple mixed animal practices and some small animal practices across the midwest and western territories, including spending some time at Dwight Veterinary Clinic during her Professional Development fourth year. Dr. Ballinger's areas of professional interest include small animal surgery, dermatology, and bovine reproduction and she loves practicing large animal medicine any chance she can get. She is also a member of AVMA, ISVMA, and AABP.
Ever since she was a young girl, Dr. Ballinger remembers saying she was going to become an 'animal doctor' when she grew up. Realizing her dream, Dr. Ballinger started working in the veterinary field as a Veterinary Assistant in 2007 and became a veterinarian in 2016. She says the best part of working in the veterinary field is the wide variety of cases she gets to work on while establishing lasting relationships with her clients and patients.
Dr. Ballinger grew up in Stewardson, IL, and now resides in Morris, IL with her fiancé, David, Charlie, her 9-year-old lab mix, and Chesney, her 2-year-old Rottweiler. Both Charlie and Chesney can salute on command! When she is not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Ballinger enjoys hiking with her dogs, kayaking, laying in her hammock and riding in the tractor with David.
